On Saturday, April 27, 2024, Link and Learn International hosted a volunteer activity aimed at supporting a student organization we have previously collaborated with. This tour event was tailored specifically for newly arrived international students, offering them local guidance and assistance with shopping.

The tour covered the area from Ikenoue to Shimokitazawa, highlighting various local establishments including eateries, supermarkets, and shops specializing in imported goods. Throughout the tour, we discussed a range of topics such as the unique features of each supermarket, shopping tips, complimentary items, discounts, expiration date checks, beverage options, English-speaking medical facilities, pharmacy differences, and recommendations for household goods and appliances. Although we had prepared guidance on dietary preferences such as gluten-free, vegetarian, halal, and organic options, there were no participants with these specific needs on this occasion.

We have been organizing similar supporting tours for international students through volunteer initiatives for years. Each tour's content varies due to the diverse food cultures and dietary needs among students, providing both participants and guides with an opportunity to learn about and appreciate cultural differences.
